“Rumination”, oil paint on canvas, 80 cm x 60 cm, 2024.
The painting depicts a figure in rumination, in a deep thought, whilst being barred “inside” as shown from the black brushstrokes going through the figure’s face. This is to signify that the figure is trapped in their own rumination and contemplation. The painting, “Rumination”, is about overthinking, such as how humans, when in deep contemplation, tend to spiral and be trapped in their own minds. This is a self-inflicting problem that humans tend to face.
