The painting, “Manic accident” was birthed during Nabila’s bipolar manic episode. What started out as a simple self-portrait turned into an expressive painting that portrayed the emotions she experienced during her manic episode. Whilst painting, she allowed her gut feeling and intuition to guide her, letting loose of her usual painting techniques. Interestengly enough, the artwork transformed into an emotional yet still expressive painting that successfully conveyed the feelings Nabila experienced during her manic episode.
